In 1978, Polanski was charged with drugging and then having unlawful sex with a 13-year-old girl at the home of Jack Nicholson. The charges were later dropped as part of a plea bargain, with the director admitting to a lesser charge of unlawful sex with a minor. The victim in the case, Samantha Geimer, now a mother of four, has publicly said that she doesn't believe Polanski deserves any more jail time, but her testimony in the case could be a boost to officials seeking public support.

The victim Samantha Geimer who is a married woman now and mother of four children dropped the charges later in a plea bargain whereby the director admitted to a lesser charge of raping a minor. She favored her rapist publicly and stated, “I don’t believe Polanski deserves jail anymore.” Afterwards, Polanski availed the opportunity and fled away.

The officials, however, consider that the victim’s testimony could be a boost and it may heighten their chances of seeking public support for long-awaited justice in a rape case of a minor whose rape was billed a ‘modeling shoot’ by the lustful rapist. The victim testified before a Los Angeles grand jury right two weeks after the incident.

Samantha mentioned it frequently that she was scared and afraid of Polanski during his acts wherein he first put her on champagne and Quaaludes and then was raped. She briefed the events before the jury and said she was asked to take off her underwear and enter a Jacuzzi while she was at Jack Nicholson’s home for a photo shootout. The director got naked himself and entered into the tub himself instead of making the photographs. Then they moved into a bedroom where he kissed her and despite her refusal, he performed a sex act, completely against her will.
